Booked: Travel Plans for 2024

2024 is already here and it feels like we have a jam packed schedule already! I’m super excited for this year’s travel plans because it’s bringing be back to some of my favorite places as well as taking me to some new ones. While I know the year has already started (and so have the trips!), here are our 2024 travel plans. If you’re looking for where to travel in 2024, look no further than this list or the many destinations on the blog!

Merida, Mexico (Jan 2024)

Merida has been on my bucket list since we’ve moved to Mexico. We finally ended up going there the first week of January when my husband ran a half marathon there. It did not disappoint! This city comes off as relatively affluent and very safe, and there is no shortage of things to do in the surrounding area. For more on this ancient city, check out my post, A Visit to the Magical City of Merida – the Safest City in Mexico

Saint Kitt’s & Nevis (Jan 2024)

To be honest, heading to the Caribbean wasn’t in my 2024 travel plans, but as luck had it, my husband had to go there for work. So I obviously had to come along to at least one of his destinations, and I’m so glad I did! This was my very first time in the Eastern Caribbean, and it didn’t disappoint. For more detailed information, check out my two posts from this trip – How to Spend Three Days in Saint Kitt´s & Nevis and Nevis Travel Guide: Why You Should Visit the Island of Nevis.

Hong Kong (Feb 2024)

In my opinion, Hong Kong is still one of the best places to travel in 2024. I haven’t been back to Asia since December 2019, and I am thrilled to be going back to Hong Kong. I’ll be doing a ton of hiking in Hong Kong, as well as visiting the main sites with my husband, who will be traveling to Asia for the first time.

Bangkok, Thailand (Feb 2024)

Anyone who knows me, knows that Bangkok has a special place in my heart. I lived there for three years and haven’t been back since before Covid. I absolutely love this city. It’s teeming with life and amazing restaurants if you know where to look. I’m so excited that this is in our 2024 travel plans, and also can’t wait to show my husband a little bit of my life there.

Bali & Gili Air (Feb 2024)

In my opinion, Bali is always a good idea. I was hesitant to go back because I’ve been there about three times and wasn’t sure what more there is to do, but I’ll be visiting a few new places, including Uluwatu and Gili Air (which is technically Lombok). Super excited to share this with you!

Lake Atitlan, Guatemala (March 2024)

We went to Antigua, Guatemala in 2022 – check out my post, A Perfect Weekend in Antigua, Guatemala – and loved it. However, we didn’t have the time to go to nearby Lake Atitlan on that trip. Serendipidously, my uncle, who is a forever expat, gifted us a trip to Lake Atitlan for our wedding, so we plan to go in March!

Cartegena, Colombia (June 2024)

Of course, it wouldn’t be a year in our life without going to Colombia. My husband is from Colombia, so we go back often. This year, we have not one, but two weddings in Cartagena, and I’m super excited to go back to this cultural and rich city to explore more.

Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sept 2024)

This plan isn’t firm, but of course, my husband is always looking for new places to run marathons. Since he didn’t make it into any of the big marathons this year, we thought Buenos Aires might be a good option. I’ve never been south of Colombia in South America, so I’m excited to explore more of what the continent has to offer!
