Introduction to San Juan Chamula & Tips for Visiting A visit to the church of San Juan Bautista, or Templo de San Juan Bautista, is truly an experience. For me, it is the most interesting church in Mexico, and possibly the most interesting church I’ve ever visited. The church is located in San Juan Chamula, an indigenous community with unique customs about 20 miles from San Cristobal de las Casas. A few things: This is the tour we took, which I highly recommend. For more on San Cristobal de las Casas, see my post A 3-Day Itinerary for San Cristobal…

Roma Norte is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Mexico City for expats and tourists alike. In addition, it has some of the best restaurants. We often go to this neighborhood on the weekends simply to eat. There are so many good restaurants in Roma Norte to try. I want to stress that I have been to all of these restaurants, and I know there are more. This is not a comprehensive list. It is a list of some of my favorite places across a range price points. So check back as I continue to eat my way through…

One of the best parts about living in Mexico City is the food. We live in the neighborhood of Condesa, which is full of cafes, restaurants, and taco places with food from all over the world. For a Mexico City itinerary, check out my post, A Beginner’s Guide to Three Days in Mexico City. Here are a few of the best restaurants in Condesa, and my go-to spots. Life took us on a weekend trip to Antigua, Guatemala by chance. We went there because it had the fastest processing times for my husband’s Mexican visa. We spent one day in Guatemala City, and then we spent a weekend in Antigua for fun. Most people skip Guatemala City and go directly to Antigua and Lake Atitlan. We only had time for one this trip, so we chose Antigua. However, we are heading back to see Lake Atitlan in March 2024! San Miguel de Allende is a popular trip from Mexico City. You can make it a day trip, but I’d recommend spending at least one night or a weekend in San Miguel de Allende because it’s a long drive – about 4-5 hours from CDMX. This popular tourist destination is one of many Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Towns) in Mexico. The main attraction is La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel in the main square, and even just walking around is beautiful. Last year, we spent Christmas there, and it was beautifully decorated and festive. The perfect weekend getaway. How to get…

Mexico City is an enormous city with so much to offer. If it’s you’re first time here, there are a few key sites to see. This itinerary is for three days. However, you could easily stretch it to five days for slower travel. Another thing to remember is that most museums and Chapultepec Park are closed on Mondays, so it’s important to plan around that. Most museums you do not need to book in advance, but the Frida Kahlo museum you absolutely do. Skip To: Mexico City Day 1 Mexico City Day 2 Mexico City Day 3 Day 1 –…
