La Paz, Baja California Sur is one of the lesser known towns in Baja California Sur in comparison to Cabos, or even Todos Santos these days. We chose to spend a weekend in La Paz to explore the area, and it was a great choice. While the town doesn’t have a ton to offer, it’s quiet and close to the main attractions – which are mainly outdoor adventures. Baja California is one of my absolute favorite places in Mexico, and somewhere I see myself going back to and exploring again and again. It also happens to be where my husband…

For the past two years, my husband and I have debated what to do for Christmas. He cannot go to the U.S. because we are waiting for his green card, and the flights to Colombia around Christmas are expensive. So last year, we spent the weekend in San Miguel de Allende – see the post A Weekend in San Miguel de Allende – and this year, we decided to spent Christmas weekend in Puebla, Mexico. Only about two and a half hours by car or bus from Mexico City, Puebla is a large city that feels like a town. The…

In November 2023 my husband and I spent three days in San Cristobal de las Casas roaming the city, taking tours, eating chocolate, and enjoying this lesser known area of Mexico. San Cristobal de las Casas is the tourist destination of the Southernmost state of Mexico, Chiapas. Introduction to San Cristobal de las Casas The state of Chiapas is one of the more unknown and untamed places in Mexico, with several towns that have their own rules and laws separate from Mexico, an abundance of nature and a border with Guatemala. Chiapas is relatively known for it’s landscape and hiking…

A long weekend in Oaxaca is a feast for the senses. Oaxaca City is, in my opinion, one of the cultural hubs of Mexico. Best known for it’s Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festivities, it has much to offer any time of the year. For me, it’s in my top three destinations in Mexico, and I’m eager to return to explore all that it has to offer. Beyond that, the food. The food in Oaxaca is some of the best in Mexico. Even the smallest, most unassuming restaurants serve flavor like you’ve never experienced. I’m so excited…

Mexico City is an enormous city with so much to offer. If it’s you’re first time here, there are a few key sites to see. This itinerary is for three days. However, you could easily stretch it to five days for slower travel. Another thing to remember is that most museums and Chapultepec Park are closed on Mondays, so it’s important to plan around that. Most museums you do not need to book in advance, but the Frida Kahlo museum you absolutely do. Skip To: Mexico City Day 1 Mexico City Day 2 Mexico City Day 3 Day 1 –…
