There is so much I could say about Mexico City, and if you want to go in depth, check out the following posts. However, in this quick guide, I will give you some easy highlights for what to see, eat, and do as well as where to stay during your first time in Mexico City. For the past two years, my husband and I have debated what to do for Christmas. He cannot go to the U.S. because we are waiting for his green card, and the flights to Colombia around Christmas are expensive. So last year, we spent the weekend in San Miguel de Allende – see the post A Weekend in San Miguel de Allende – and this year, we decided to spent Christmas weekend in Puebla, Mexico. Only about two and a half hours by car or bus from Mexico City, Puebla is a large city that feels like a town. The…

You can always thank my husband for finding places to eat on our trips. He is usually responsible for making Google Maps lists for everything from restaurants to cafes to cultural sites. Here are a few restaurants in San Cristobal de las Casas to try based on where we ate, and a few that are on our list. For more on San Cristobal de las Casas, check out my related posts: Esquina San Augustin Esquina San Augustin isn’t a restaurant, but rather a high-end food court in San Cristobal de las Casas. We discovered it on our first day there…

Even the smallest, most unassuming restaurants serve flavor like you’ve never experienced. I’m so excited…

You can make it a day trip, but I’d recommend spending at least one night or a weekend in San Miguel de Allende because it’s a long drive – about 4-5 hours from CDMX. This popular tourist destination is one of many Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Towns) in Mexico. The main attraction is La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel in the main square, and even just walking around is beautiful. Last year, we spent Christmas there, and it was beautifully decorated and festive. The perfect weekend getaway. How to get…
