Having lived in Milan for close to a year, I have a good sense of what is worth it to do in this city. It is an often overlooked in Europe because, let’s be fair, it’s not particularly beautiful, and on the surface level, there doesn’t seem like much to see. However, if you know a little bit about the city, you realize there is plenty to see and do, and especially eat. This quick guide is full of my personal recommendations based on my experience there. This guide is good for what to do in Milan for a do…

My Top Recommendations for Where to Eat in Milan, Italy The amount of places there are to eat in Milan is insane if you know where to look and book. Most restaurants in Milan do require advance reservations. You can occasionally get away without booking, but I wouldn’t risk it. Obviously, Italy is a food destination, but usually people don’t think of Milan as a foodie city. This is simply not true. Milan has extensive, amazing places to eat and it’s my favorite activity in Milan. Even writing this made me miss it. Here are some of my favorite places…

Milan is generally not on the top of people’s lists for places to go in Italy. If anything, it’s usually a necessary stop over before visiting one of the other amazing destinations the country has to offer. What that means is that there is more to enjoy for those who live there. Besides eat, which is basically my favorite thing to do in Milan, here are my top recommendations for things to do in Milan based on my personal experience living there for a year. For more on Milan, see my related posts: Climb the Duomo If you’re not sure what…

I lived in Milan, Italy for a year while completing my MBA at SDA Bocconi. During this time, I was able to explore the city extensively. While it’s not the most iconic or beautiful city in Europe, it has a lot to offer if you know where to look. One thing about Milan is that it’s a very manageable size. You can bike from the South to the North of the city in about 30 minutes, which I did many times. My favorite way to get around Milan is to bike. If you are ever going to Italy and have…

Ok, so sometimes, when you are in Milan, you crave something other than pizza, pasta and panini. While this country and city are very traditional in many ways, there are a growing number of excellent international food restaurants in all price ranges. The city has a thriving Chinatown in particular. So this is for everyone who needs a small break before getting back to their pizza, pasta and paninis. The below is a small subset of the options in Milan, but they’re my favorite places for international food in Milan. If you’re looking for more traditional Italian options, check out…

One of the best things to eat in Italy besides pasta and pizza are paninis and prosciutto, and these places have some of the best panini and prosciutto in Milan. Milan has so many good places to grab a quick panini or sit down with friends to have a large charcuterie board and several bottles of wine. This was one of my favorite things to do in Milan, and this is my list of my favorite restaurants serving panini and prosciutto in Milan. Obviously, if you’re in Italy, you must eat pasta. Milan itself is actually less known for pasta and more known for Risotto. However, despite that, it has a significant number of incredible pasta places, and based on my extensive research, these locations have the best pasta in Milan. It is important to know that pasta is very regional. For example, if it’s a Roman pasta restaurant, you’re unlikely to find a pesto pasta because that is from Genoa. Most restaurants will focus on a specific regional Italian cuisine. My personal favorite is Roman cuisine with it’s Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana,…
