The Best Pizza in Milan

Based on extensive research of eating pizza over a period of 10 months in Milan, this is my personal list of the best pizza in Milan. Obviously, Napoli is the most famous place for pizza in Italy, but Milan has it’s fair share of good places. There are many types of pizza, but most of what you’ll find in Milan is either Napoli style or Roman style. Napoli style is thin-crust, and Roman style is more of a focaccia with toppings that you buy in terms of weight. Both are equally delicious in my opinion (but I’m sure Italians would have different opinions on that). For more on food in Milan, visit these posts:

Pizzeria Daniele ($)

Pizza at Pizzeria Daniele in Milan, Italy

To me, this is the best pizza place in Milan. This is not a place you will find on general Milan restaurant lists. It is a beloved local spot that my husband discovered. We went there so often that the owner, Carmela, knew us personally. It’s that kind of neighborhood place and their pizza is to die for. It’s completely unassuming and tiny and perfect. My husband always had the Margherita and I always had the Diavola (one pizza per person, obviously).

Tutta Nata Storia ($$)

Yellow Tomato and Burrata Pizza

This place is so good. It was located around the corner from my apartment. It is another hole-in-wall pizza place that you may just walk by if you didn’t know it. You can order pizza based on how many people are in your group and they will deliver you these huge pizzas for your table. You can also choose multiple types of pizza in one. They had this insane burrata and yellow tomato pizza on occasion that was one of my favorite things to eat in Milan.

Mercado Centrale – Pizza by Weight ($$)

Pizza al Taglio in Mercado Centrale

I don’t remember the name of the exact place, but within the Mercado Centrale, there is a Roman pizza spot where you can buy pizza by weight based on the toppings of your choosing. You will find it on the first floor of Mercado Centrale right past the entrance to the mercado. Mercado Centrale as a whole is worth checking out because it has an incredible range of restaurants all in one place. It’s worth it even if you’re not leaving on a train from Centrale station.

Mercado Centrale – Ligurian Pizza ($$)

There is a Genoese cuisine restaurant also located in Mercado Centrale that serves a type of Ligurian pizza that you have probably never heard of. It’s similar to a flatbread, but a little more flaky. It is generally stuffed with pesto and melty cheese and it’s absolutely delicious. You’ll find it on the second floor of Mercado Centrale.

Gino Sorbillo ($$)

Gino Sorbillo is a well-known Napoli style pizzeria. They began in Napoli, and now they have many locations throughout Milan and even in other countries. While it is a chain, it does live up to the hype, and it’s great because there are six locations throughout the city. This is a great spot to go with groups and friends for a night out.

Berbere ($$)

Also a chain of pizza places, this is another go-to for us. Similar in style to Gino Sorbillo and also a great spot. They have five locations in Milan, so you can always find one!
